Reporter of the Month is an award given to a staff writer of the Erie Square Gazette for journalistic excellence or for above and beyond assistance given to help the Gazette in its mission to produce a quality publication for the students of SC4. Staff writers are chosen by vote from the editorial team.
The first few weeks of the ESG being back in print are tough for all the editorial team. Almost every semester brings new changes to the Gazette, spanning from simple layout fixes to the frustration new editors encounter as they accommodate to the responsibilities of their position.
When a staff writer steps up and helps loosen the load during the beginning of the fall semester, the editors are extremely grateful.
This was the case with Angie Stoecklin.
In a newsroom where only one article is required by staff writers every two weeks, Stoecklin voluntarily accepted multiple news stories in both issues that have been published since the beginning of the semester.
On production night, Stoecklin voluntarily showed up and helped the editors search for news stories for the calendar, lightening the load for everyone on one of the most stressful nights of the week.
The editorial crew is extremely grateful for the enthusiasm and effort Angie has given to help this publication to succeed and is pleased to recognize Stoecklin as the first Reporter of the Month for the fall 2013 semester.
