For the first year ever SC4 is hosting the Beatrice Thornton Student Art Exhibition on its own.
The exhibit, split into two shows, will feature art pieces from the high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in the area. The art includes paintings, watercolors, sculptures, and other nontraditional 3D pieces.
“We feel as a community college it’s very important to support the efforts of K-12 students. That’s why when the museum was no longer able to be the lead sponsor, the college agreed quite easily to take it over,” said Shawn Starkey, executive director of public relations, marketing and legislative affairs for SC4.
The middle and high school art show will take place Feb. 3 through 23, and the elementary school art show will be held March 3 through 25.
The hours for both shows will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free.
