The Men’s basketball team is starting up again with Coach Dale Vos for the 2010-11 season. After finishing up with a 27-8 overall record, 12-4 in the league, the team has high hopes for another successful season.

We have a good group of young men who are working hard. A lot of inexperienced players will be playing important roles, so how quickly they develop will determine a lot of our success,” Coach Dale Vos said.

The Skippers’ biggest competition will be against Mott, Henry Ford, and Oakland CC, who with SC4 are the top four teams in the Eastern Conference of the MCCAA. Mott CC, the conference champion and ranked third in the nation amongst community colleges, lost only a single game last year.

Last year, the Skippers finished in second for the Eastern Conference just under Mott CC. Even with 6 returning players, it is unknown how the season will play out.

Delta and Macomb have new coaches, so there are some unknowns there. Alpena, Kirtland, and Schoolcraft will be much improved,” Vos said.

Returning for the Skippers are: Terrence Keaton, Alan Sharp, Kyle Brown, AJ Burton, and Tory Villolovos. Villolovos played during the 2008-09 season for the Skippers and is returning for another year.

We intend to compete for a league championship, that is our goal for the regular season, we will set post season goals at the appropriate time,” Vos said.

The Men’s next home game with be Tuesday, Nov. 9 against Rochester CC. Tip off of the Women’s game will be at 5:30 p.m., with the Men’s game following at 7:30 p.m. Admission for regular home games is $3 per adult, $1 per student, and free for children under the age of 8. Season passes may be purchased for $15. Contact the Business Office in room 220 of the Main Building for more information.
