With the recent loss of the Ice hawks professional hockey team, everyone thought all was going to be quiet in McMorran arena this year.

No more guest appearances at games from names like Ted Lindsay, George “the Animal” Steele, or even Mickey Redmond.

McMorran was doomed to be empty this year with no other sports team in the building.

The Predators are a professional football team that is one of six teams in the CIFL. The league is looking to sign more teams by the season start in mid February of 2011.

The team’s General Manager is Greg Thomas, formerly of the Port Huron Pirates of the CIFL, and the Head Coach is Doug Warren.

Coach Warren played for the Port Huron Pirates, formerly of the CIFL from 2006 and 2007. Warren went on to play for the Saginaw Sting in 2008 also with the CIFL.

Warren began his coaching career as the defensive line coach for Port Huron High from 2000 to 2006. After his playing career he was then the defensive line coach of the Sting (saginawsting.com).

The Predators already have two players signed and are looking to sign more at their open tryouts Sept. 18th at Port Huron High School and Oct. 16 at Port Huron Northern High School.

The team is looking to sign local talent 18 years old and up. Since St. Clair Community college doesn’t currently have a football team it’s an option for former high school student athletes

With the addition of the Predators and the Fighting falcons Hockey team, Mcmorran arena will be anything but quiet this year.
